This high-level dialogue represents a shift from passive observation to active negotiation, as the WTA seeks to ensure its members are not relegated to the periphery of the clay-court season’s most significant event.

The friction between the WTA’s executive leadership and the French Tennis Federation (FFT) underscores a broader struggle for power and influence within the sport’s governing bodies.
